Adrianne Serna: News

No news is good news? - September 16, 2008

I just looked at the last time I posted "news" and it really freaked me out. I have no idea how time passed so quickly. By now I would have thought that the new record would be out and we'd be gigging like crazy.

But you just can't rush the learning process. And I am a very slow learner. But I AM learning. I am learning to find my true voice as a singer/songwriter and I am learning that if I don't enjoy singing the song, I shouldn't be singing it.

So things are taking much longer than I had anticipated when I went on this little "hiatus." But it has been a process that I am grateful for.

I hope that I can share the results someday soon.

XOXO
Adrianne

We are hiding from you. - January 22, 2007

Not intentionally, of course. We're just really taking our time trying to make sure that the songs on our next CD are the best work we've ever done. To that end, it also seems to be a time of reflection regarding our musical goals and where we are vs. where we'd like to be. And, lastly, I personally am hoping that we can actually agree on a new band name so that the 4-year long tenure of what was supposed to be a "working" band name can come to an end. ( Yes, we are painfully aware that "Adrianne Serna Band" just isn't all that catchy of a name.)
I hope that our next record truly delivers. I hope that you love it and are proud of us for our growth, dedication, and true love of serving the song.

Until my next rant, take good care.

-Adrianne

p.s. If you have any cool ideas for our new name, please drop me an email and let me know.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes - August 3, 2006

Change is good. That's my deep thought for the day.
Take care,
Adrianne

Ha! I kid. Don't worry - my "deep thought" is not the news update.

The real news is that my neck and arms are feeling better (yeah!!), so I am
back on the guitar and Todd is back on bass (even though he still "is
not a bass player"). After two years of drumming for the ASB,
Mr. Scott King has gracefully exited in order to pursue other things.
We love Scott, he is a great guy, and we wish him the best of luck.
(And you might even catch him filling in on a gig or two.) So, that
leaves me with the final news, which is that Steve Furst is now on drums.
Steve originally came to us as a non-commited filler-inner, but we drugged
and tortured him until he agreed to commit to being in the band full time.
(That's a joke, by the way. I seem to be just full of incredibly comical (?)material today.)
Sooo, stay tuned for pics and a bio on Mr. Steve Furst. Considering his
roots are in heavy metal, hopefully we'll get a good story out of him.
(Surprisingly, the heavy metal thing is NOT a joke.)

GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS - May 1, 2006

Well, the winter proved to be a bit more cruel than usual
as I found myself suffering from a cruel neck/arm injury
that won't permit me to play guitar. That's the bad news.
The good news is that there is a talented new addition to
the ASB and even a little switch-up as well. Here's the scoop:
Todd switched to rhythm guitar, which is a great thing, because,
well, he rocks on the guitar. This little switcheroo left room
for Mr. Shawn Hammond to join the rhythm section on bass.
Barring any injuries to my vocals pipes (Pleez God, no!),
the ASB continues to keep on truckin'.
Check the shows page for updates.

SURFER CHICKS ROCK - February 1, 2006

...Especially when they are accompanied by the ASB!
Our song, "Look Around", was chosen out of 400 others
to be the soundtrack for Kassia Meador's surfing video
on jettygirl.com. Check it out! http://www.jettygirl.com

New songs are getting the thumbs up - January 10, 2006

So last month our new song, "Walking Away",
won top five songs of the month from
Songwriter Universe magazine. Then,
this month, another newbie of ours, "Fast Forward"
won the same little accolade. The Grammies? Maybe not.
But it's always good to get positive feedback.
Thanks to Songwriter Universe!
